What’s next for Sero in 2027

Here is what we are working on as we head into 2027. Everything below is either rolling out now or planned. None of it comes with a promised date, because we would rather ship it than announce it twice.

How to read this roadmap

We use plain labels. Rolling out means it exists and is reaching customers in stages. In development means we are building it. On our roadmap means it is planned and committed but not yet under way. We have not attached dates to any of these, and we will not describe anything as available until it is.

That is consistent with how we write about Sero generally. If you want the reasoning, our post on the honesty ledger explains it.

Roadmaps are easy to write and hard to keep. We have deliberately kept this one short, limited to work that is either reaching customers now or committed. Each item is something customers ask us about regularly, and each one closes a gap we already describe openly on our product pages.

SeroBooks on iPhone and iPad

SeroBooks today runs as native apps on Windows, macOS and Android, and on the web. iPhone and iPad apps are coming soon. For owners, that means checking sales, approving bills and purchase orders, and reviewing cash from an iPhone without opening a browser. For businesses that run SeroPOS on iPads, it means the same devices can run the back office too.

The apps follow the same rules as the rest of SeroBooks: server-enforced permissions, the same audit trail, and Maya’s approvals available on the go.

Live bank feeds

SeroBooks reconciles bank accounts today through CSV import with rules that categorize repeating transactions, and through bank connections with Plaid. Live bank feeds, where transactions arrive automatically every day, are rolling out.

The goal is a reconciliation screen that is mostly done by the time you open it: transactions already matched to invoices, bills and deposits, with only the exceptions left for you to review.

Until live feeds reach your bank, the CSV import with rules is a practical workflow: download a statement file once a week, import it, and let rules categorize rent, utilities, software and other repeating items so only new or unusual transactions need attention.

Direct Uber Eats integration in SeroPOS

SeroPOS offers delivery-platform menu and order management today. Direct Uber Eats integration is rolling out in Canada, so restaurants can receive Uber Eats orders straight into SeroPOS and the kitchen, with menu and availability managed from one place instead of a separate tablet.

We are deliberately not announcing other delivery platforms until they are live. When they are, we will say so.

The SeroPayroll employee app

SeroPayroll runs today as a Windows desktop app and a web edition for administrators and payroll staff. Employees who are only paid need no login, and they receive pay stubs by PDF or email. An employee app is in development, so staff can view pay stubs and year-to-date totals on their own phones.

Other parts of SeroPayroll will keep improving as provincial and federal rules change, as they do every year. Those updates are part of the product, not a roadmap item.

  • Live bank feeds: rolling out
  • Direct Uber Eats integration: rolling out in Canada
  • SeroPayroll employee app: in development
  • Security certifications such as SOC 2: on our roadmap

What is not on this list

Some things people ask about are not here because we are not ready to commit to them. We have not listed additional delivery platforms beyond Uber Eats, payroll outside Canada and the US, or marketplaces outside North America for SeroBooks for Amazon. If any of those move onto the roadmap, we will add them here with an honest label.

Some things are not here because they already exist. SeroPOS runs today on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and Mac. SeroBooks already handles Canadian and US sales tax, payroll on its Pro plan, a QuickBooks Desktop migration with dry run, and Amazon accounting. Maya is available inside SeroBooks. SeroPayroll already covers all thirteen provinces and territories.

We will update this post as items ship. When something moves from rolling out to available, the label will change here and on the product pages at the same time.

Security certifications

We describe our security by what we actually do: encryption in transit and at rest, per-business tenant isolation, server-enforced permissions, an append-only audit trail, period locks, and signed and notarized apps. Formal certifications such as SOC 2 are on our roadmap. We know many larger customers and accounting firms need them, and we will publish the details when we have them, not before.

If one of these items matters to your decision, tell us. Customer conversations shape the order we work in, and we are happy to tell you honestly where something stands.
