Platform

Siblings, not strangers: how the Sero products fit together

Three products built by one team on one platform, with the same tax rules, the same standards and — between SeroBooks and SeroPayroll — the same login.

One company, one support line

The people who answer your question about the POS also know the ledger and the pay run, because they build all three.

Shared logins

SeroBooks and SeroPayroll run on the same platform, so one login opens both.

The same tax rules everywhere

GST, HST, PST and QST are decided the same way at the counter, in the ledger and on the pay stub.

Payroll was born in the ledger

Payroll was built inside SeroBooks first, so it posts to the books once — and SeroPayroll exports a clean journal to any ledger.

One location add-on

An extra location is the same $100 a month in SeroPOS and SeroBooks alike.

Hosted on Microsoft Azure

Per-business tenant isolation, encryption in transit and at rest, and a server that enforces every permission.

Why three products instead of one

A restaurant’s kitchen, a hardware store’s shelves and a bookkeeper’s month-end close are different crafts. One screen that tries to do all of them ends up doing none of them well, so we build a dedicated product for each job and make them siblings rather than strangers.

SeroPOS came first, built for the rush at a counter. SeroBooks grew out of it so the till, the shelf and the ledger could become one system. Payroll was built inside SeroBooks and then released on its own as SeroPayroll for employers who do not need to change their accounting.

What moves between them today

SeroBooks and SeroPayroll share the platform and the login. SeroBooks Pro runs payroll in the same ledger as the rest of the books, and SeroPayroll writes a general-ledger journal export (CSV or IIF-style) that any accounting system — SeroBooks included — can take in.

SeroPOS keeps its own double-entry accounting and, on the Pro plan, syncs to QuickBooks Online and Xero. SeroBooks has its own counter-sales screen for product businesses that sell in person straight into the ledger.

  • Same login: SeroBooks ↔ SeroPayroll
  • Payroll in the ledger: SeroBooks Pro
  • Journal export from SeroPayroll to any ledger
  • SeroPOS Pro → QuickBooks Online and Xero
  • One price for an extra location across SeroPOS and SeroBooks

Where we are taking it

Our direction is fewer handoffs: the sale, the stock, the tax, the pay run and the year-end should be one story told once. We publish what is shipped and what is rolling out separately, so you always know which is which.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need all three products to use the platform?

No. Every product works on its own. The platform simply means that when you add a second product, it comes from the same company, follows the same tax logic and, for SeroBooks and SeroPayroll, uses the same login.

Does SeroPOS post sales into SeroBooks automatically?

SeroPOS includes its own accounting and syncs to QuickBooks Online and Xero on the Pro plan. Product businesses that want sales posted straight into a full Canadian or US ledger can sell from SeroBooks’ counter-sales screen. Ask us in a demo which setup fits your business.

Can SeroPayroll post to my accounting software?

Yes. SeroPayroll produces a general-ledger journal export in CSV and IIF-style formats that you can import into SeroBooks or another accounting system. If you want payroll inside the ledger itself, SeroBooks Pro includes it.
