Multi-location POS and accounting for businesses with more than one door
SeroPOS manages a chain of stores or restaurants with consolidated reporting and stock transfers, and SeroBooks keeps every location in one ledger. You see each site on its own and the whole business together.
Multi-location, handled by Sero
Chain store management
Included from SeroPOS Standard at $29.99/mo, so a second location does not force a plan change at the till.
Consolidated chain reporting
Sales, tax, stock and staff performance reports for one location or rolled up across all of them, exported to Excel or PDF.
Stock transfers between sites
Move inventory from a warehouse or one store to another with a record of what left, what arrived and when.
Locations in one ledger
SeroBooks Pro includes 3 locations, and each extra location is $100/mo in SeroPOS and SeroBooks alike.
Role-based permissions
Give store managers access to their own site while owners and head office see everything. SeroBooks enforces 207 permission nodes on the server.
Approvals and audit trail
Route purchases and adjustments for approval and keep an append-only record of who changed what, at which location.
One company, one login, three products that share their numbers

What breaks when you open the second location
One store can be run from memory. Two stores cannot. Prices drift between sites, one location runs out of a product the other is overstocked on, managers export separate sales reports, and the owner rebuilds a combined picture in a spreadsheet each week. The accounting usually suffers most, with each location posting to the books differently or not at all until month-end.
Multi-location software is meant to stop that drift. The test is simple: can you see yesterday’s sales for every site on one screen, move stock between them without phone calls, and close the month knowing each location’s numbers add up to the company total? That is the job SeroPOS and SeroBooks split between them.
SeroPOS at every counter
Each location runs SeroPOS on its own devices, whether that is iPads at a café, Windows terminals at a grocery store or Android tablets in a food truck. Chain store management is part of the Standard plan, and every site has real-time inventory, low-stock alerts, register and Z-reports, and shifts. Offline mode keeps a location selling if its internet drops.
Head office sees consolidated chain reporting across the 25+ built-in reports: sales, P&L, tax, stock, expiry, trending items and staff performance. You can compare locations side by side or look at the whole chain, and export to Excel or PDF for a weekly review. Register closes and Z-reports at each site make cash variances visible per store, so a short drawer is traced to the location and shift where it happened.
- Real-time stock levels per location
- Purchase orders and suppliers managed centrally or per site
- Stock transfers and adjustments with a record
- Lot and expiry tracking where it matters
- Staff attendance, shifts and leave in HRM
Moving stock instead of reordering it
When one store has twenty units of something another store just sold out of, the cheapest fix is a transfer, not a purchase order. SeroPOS records stock transfers between locations so the sending site’s count goes down and the receiving site’s goes up, and adjustments carry a reason so shrink and damage are visible rather than buried.
In SeroBooks, stock transfers work alongside warehouse bins, serial numbers, batch and expiry, and stock valuation. That matters for businesses holding inventory in a back warehouse that feeds several storefronts. Demand forecasting with two lead times helps decide what to send where before a location runs out. Every movement keeps its history, so a count at one site can be traced back.
SeroBooks keeps every location in one ledger
Multi-location in SeroBooks means one company file, one chart of accounts and one general ledger, with each transaction tagged to the location it belongs to. You can run a P&L for a single store or the whole business without exporting and merging. Classes and job costing in Pro add another way to slice results.
Starter and Standard plans include one location. SeroBooks Pro at $300 a month includes 3 locations and 6 users, and adds payroll for Canada and the US, forecasting, job costing and the audit trail. Each extra location is $100 a month, the same add-on price as in SeroPOS, and +5 users is $100 a month.
- Pro: 3 locations included
- +1 location: $100/mo (SeroPOS and SeroBooks)
- +5 users: $100/mo
- Period locks and year-end close across all sites
Control without micromanaging managers
A good multi-location setup lets store managers run their store without seeing the whole company’s margins or editing another site’s inventory. SeroPOS uses role-based permissions, and SeroBooks enforces its permissions on the server, so a hidden button is also a blocked action. Approvals can sit in front of purchase orders and other money documents.
The append-only audit trail records each change with the user and time, which helps when a count looks wrong at one location. If you are evaluating whether one system can replace separate tools per store, book a demo and bring your location list and a typical week’s reports. We will walk through how your sites, roles and reports would be set up.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to add a location?
In both SeroPOS and SeroBooks an extra location is $100 a month. SeroBooks Pro at $300 a month already includes 3 locations, while Starter and Standard include one. SeroPOS Standard at $29.99 a month includes chain store management, so the plan itself does not need upgrading when you open a second site.
Can I see sales for all my stores in one report?
Yes. SeroPOS has consolidated chain reporting, so its sales, tax, stock and staff performance reports can be viewed for one location or across the whole chain. Reports export to Excel and PDF. In SeroBooks, financial statements can be run per location or for the company as a whole from the same ledger.
Does SeroPOS support transferring stock between locations?
Yes. Stock transfers move inventory from one location to another and update both counts, and stock adjustments record shrink, damage or recounts with a reason. SeroBooks also supports stock transfers, warehouse bins and stock valuation for businesses that run a central warehouse feeding several stores.
Can managers be limited to their own location?
Yes. SeroPOS uses role-based permissions so a store manager can be given access appropriate to their site, and SeroBooks enforces permissions on the server with View and Allow rights across 207 permission nodes. Approvals and the audit trail add a further check on who changed what.
Do restaurants and retail chains both work?
Yes. SeroPOS was built for restaurants and retail, including cafés, quick service, full service, bakeries, grocery, convenience and gift shops. Multi-location features work the same for both, with restaurant tools like floor plans and kitchen display alongside retail tools like barcode scanning and lot tracking.
