Why one ledger matters
Most small businesses run a POS, an inventory tool, a payroll service and an accounting package, then spend every month-end reconciling them against each other. SeroBooks takes a different approach: invoicing, inventory, payroll, banking and year-end are modules on one double-entry ledger. A sale, a pay run or a stock adjustment posts once, to the right accounts, at the moment it happens.
Because SeroBooks grew out of SeroPOS, the counter can feed the same ledger without a nightly export. Payroll in SeroBooks Pro posts directly, and a pay run reaches the ledger once, never twice. The result is a set of books where the numbers already agree, and month-end becomes a review instead of a reconstruction.
Real accounting, not a cash book
SeroBooks is double-entry throughout. Every transaction has balanced debits and credits, and the general ledger, trial balance and financial statements are always in agreement with each other. Journal entries, recurring and memorized transactions, budgets and a loan manager cover the everyday work accountants expect, without add-ons or a separate practice tool to fill the gaps.
Fixed assets track depreciation with CCA classes for Canada and MACRS for the US. Year-end close and period locks protect finished periods from accidental edits, and on SeroBooks Pro the append-only audit trail records every change. Multi-company keeps separate legal entities in separate books while you work from one login.

Built for QuickBooks Desktop switchers
Many SeroBooks customers are moving off QuickBooks Desktop. The QuickBooks Desktop migration includes a dry run, so you can see the result and compare balances before anything is committed. The desktop-style workspace uses menus that feel familiar, which shortens the learning curve for bookkeepers who have used QuickBooks Desktop for years and do not want to relearn every screen.
In one live seller’s migration, SeroBooks matched QuickBooks Desktop to a $0.00 variance. If you ever need to go the other way, SeroBooks also produces a penny-verified export, and QuickBooks Online data can be imported as well. Your data is never trapped, which is exactly how accounting software should treat the records you are legally required to keep.
Accountants and controls
Accountants and bookkeepers get free practice seats to work in their clients’ books, so inviting your accountant never costs you a user licence. Roles and permissions are enforced on the server across 207 permission nodes, with View and Allow set separately. A bookkeeper can reconcile the bank without being able to change payroll, and a manager can view reports without posting entries.
SeroBooks is $79.99 a month for Starter, $150 for Standard and $300 for Pro, in USD, each with a 14-day free trial. SeroPOS also includes built-in double-entry accounting for smaller operations, with QuickBooks Online and Xero sync on its Pro plan, and many businesses start there before moving their books into SeroBooks.
Frequently asked questions
Is SeroBooks double-entry accounting?
Yes. SeroBooks is full double-entry accounting. Every module, from invoicing and inventory to payroll and banking, posts balanced entries to one general ledger, so the trial balance and financial statements always agree. Your accountant works with the same structure they would expect from any professional package.
Can I move from QuickBooks Desktop to SeroBooks?
Yes. SeroBooks includes a QuickBooks Desktop migration with a dry run, so you can check the result before committing. The desktop-style workspace uses familiar menus, and a penny-verified export means you can take your data back out if you ever need to. QuickBooks Online imports are supported too.
Does my accountant pay for access?
No. Practice seats for accountants and bookkeepers are free in SeroBooks. They can work in your books with the permissions you assign, and multi-company lets them move between clients from one login. You stay in control of what they can view and change.
Does SeroBooks handle fixed assets?
Yes. SeroBooks tracks fixed assets and calculates depreciation using CCA classes for Canadian businesses and MACRS for US businesses, posting the entries to the ledger. That keeps the asset register and the balance sheet in agreement instead of maintaining a separate depreciation spreadsheet.
Does SeroPOS include accounting?
SeroPOS includes built-in double-entry accounting suitable for smaller operations, and syncs with QuickBooks Online and Xero on the Pro plan. For full accounting with payroll, inventory valuation, multi-company and year-end tools, most businesses pair SeroPOS with SeroBooks, which grew out of it.
