The counter, the case and the online order

A bakery counter moves fast in the morning and slows into custom orders by afternoon. SeroPOS handles both: a quick sale screen with your daily breads and pastries on the first page, barcode scanning for packaged items, and variations for sizes and flavours. Discounts at the end of the day clear the case without manual price changes.

Online orders from your SeroPOS store and QR orders join the counter queue, so a dozen croissants ordered at 6 a.m. are on the list when the doors open and nobody has to dig through an inbox. Email and SMS receipts confirm the order with the customer, and online payments run through Stripe or PayPal.

Recipe costing from flour to box

Baking is chemistry and accounting at once. Recipe management on SeroPOS Pro ties every item to its ingredients, from flour and butter to the box and ribbon, and deducts them from stock as you sell. Ingredient-level costing shows your margin per croissant, and a butter price increase becomes a number rather than a feeling.

SeroPOS also supports recipe and bill-of-materials production, so you can record a morning bake that turns flour, butter and eggs into finished goods on the shelf. Low-stock alerts and purchase orders to suppliers help you order flour and dairy before the weekend, when running short means turning away your best customers.

Expiry, waste and day-old stock

Fresh product has a short life. SeroPOS tracks lots and expiry dates, and the expiry report shows what needs to sell, be marked down or be pulled from the case. Stock adjustments record waste, donations and staff take-home, so the shrink number in your reports reflects what really happened to the product you baked.

Trending reports show which items sell on which days, helping you bake to demand instead of habit. AI sales forecasting gives you a starting point for planning production around holidays, long weekends and the Saturday market, when guessing wrong is most expensive in either direction: sold out by ten, or a full rack left at close.

Custom cakes, catering and wholesale

Custom cakes and catering trays need details: size, flavour, filling, message and pickup date. Modifier groups capture the choices with upcharges, and hold and resume keeps the order open until the customer collects it. Customer profiles store contact details and order history, so the next birthday cake starts from last year’s.

Bakeries that supply cafés and restaurants can use customer groups and price groups for wholesale pricing. When wholesale grows into invoices, terms and statements, SeroBooks adds invoicing, sales orders, A/R and customer statements on one ledger, along with GST/HST/PST for every province or US sales tax, and your POS sales can sync into the same books.

Frequently asked questions

Can SeroPOS calculate the cost of my baked goods?

Yes, on SeroPOS Pro. Recipe management links each item to its ingredients and packaging, and each sale deducts those quantities from inventory. That gives you ingredient-level costing per item. SeroPOS also supports recipe and bill-of-materials production for recording batches of finished goods.

Does SeroPOS track expiry dates?

Yes. SeroPOS includes lot and expiry tracking, with an expiry report among its 25+ live reports. You can see which items or ingredients are close to their date and record waste or markdowns with stock adjustments, which keeps your inventory and food cost accurate.

Can I take custom cake orders with a deposit?

You can set up custom cake options with modifier groups for size, flavour and filling, then hold the order and resume it at pickup. Mixed tender and split payments help when a customer pays in more than one way. Customer profiles keep the details on file for repeat orders.

Can I sell wholesale to cafés and restaurants?

Yes. Customer groups and price groups in SeroPOS give trade customers their own pricing. If you need invoices with terms, sales orders, A/R and customer statements, SeroBooks provides them, starting at $79.99 USD a month for the Starter plan, with a 14-day free trial.

Does SeroPOS work for a small home bakery?

Yes. SeroPOS lists home businesses and pop-ups among the formats it supports. You can run it on a phone or tablet, sell through the online store, and add a receipt printer later. Standard is $29.99 USD a month with a 14-day free trial and no contract.
