Why offline mode matters
Internet outages do not wait for a quiet hour. A cut cable down the street, a router that needs a restart, an overloaded shared connection in a mall, or a food truck parked in a dead zone can stop a cloud-only till cold. SeroPOS has an offline mode so the sale screen keeps working and the line keeps moving while the connection is down, instead of turning customers away.
When the internet returns, SeroPOS catches up. Offline sales flow into stock counts and reports, so the day’s numbers are complete and the Z-report at close reflects everything that was rung through. Staff do not need to write sales on paper and re-enter them later, which is where errors and missing tickets usually creep in.
What keeps working
In offline mode, staff can keep ringing sales and printing to local receipt and kitchen printers connected over USB or the local network. Products, prices and modifiers are already on the device, which is one reason SeroPOS ships as a native app on iOS, Android, Windows and macOS rather than running only in a web browser that needs a connection for every tap.
Features that depend on the internet, such as web orders, QR orders, online payments and accounting sync, naturally wait until the connection is back. Card payments depend on your terminal and your processor’s own connectivity; the recommended Global Payments T650p supports 4G as well as Wi-Fi, which can keep card payments running when the shop’s internet is down.

Native apps across Sero
Sero builds native apps rather than relying only on a browser tab. SeroBooks has desktop apps for Windows and macOS and an Android app, alongside a web version, with iPhone and iPad apps coming soon. SeroPayroll runs as a Windows desktop app and as a web edition. Native apps start faster, handle printing and files properly and feel like the desktop software many teams are used to.
SeroPayroll keeps encrypted local company files protected by a recovery key, with an optional cloud sync add-on for teams that want to work from more than one machine. That gives payroll administrators a working file on their own computer, control over where sensitive employee data lives and a recovery path if a password is ever lost.
Backups and recovery
SeroPOS includes cloud backup and restore, so a lost, stolen or broken device does not mean lost data. Install the app on a replacement device, sign in, and your products, customers and sales history come back. Because SeroPOS runs on standard iPads, Android tablets, Windows PCs and Macs, a replacement can often be bought locally the same day.
SeroBooks runs on Microsoft Azure with encryption at rest, TLS in transit and per-business tenant isolation. Try SeroPOS free for 14 days, with no credit card, and test offline mode yourself by switching off Wi-Fi during a few practice sales, then watching the stock and reports catch up when you turn it back on.
Frequently asked questions
Does SeroPOS work without the internet?
Yes. SeroPOS has an offline mode that keeps the sale screen working during an internet outage. When the connection returns, offline sales update stock and reports automatically. Online features such as web orders, QR orders and accounting sync wait until you are reconnected, then carry on as normal.
Can I take card payments offline?
Card payments depend on your terminal and processor rather than SeroPOS alone. The recommended Global Payments T650p supports both Wi-Fi and 4G, which can keep card payments running when the shop’s internet is down. Check your processor’s offline policy for the details that apply to your account.
Will receipts still print during an outage?
Yes. Receipt and kitchen printers connected by USB or on the local network keep working in offline mode, because SeroPOS talks to them directly from the device rather than through the internet. Kitchen tickets keep flowing, so the kitchen does not notice that the connection has dropped.
Is SeroBooks a desktop app?
SeroBooks has native desktop apps for Windows and macOS, an Android app and a web version, with iPhone and iPad apps coming soon. The desktop-style workspace uses familiar QuickBooks Desktop-style menus, which helps teams moving from QuickBooks Desktop feel at home quickly.
What happens if my POS device breaks?
SeroPOS includes cloud backup and restore. Install SeroPOS on a replacement device, sign in, and your data is restored. Because SeroPOS runs on standard iOS, Android, Windows and Mac devices rather than proprietary hardware, you can often replace a broken device the same day from a local store.
