What a point of sale system should do

A point of sale is more than a till. It is where prices, stock, staff and tax meet a paying customer, usually with a queue behind them and a phone ringing somewhere. SeroPOS is built around that moment: a fast sale screen, large buttons you can rearrange by drag and drop, per-category colours and 30 themes, so the layout matches how your team actually works rather than how a software designer imagined it.

Behind the screen, every sale updates inventory in real time and records tax, tips and discounts against the right items. The numbers land in more than 25 live reports covering sales, tax, stock and staff performance. Register shifts and Z-reports close each drawer cleanly at the end of a shift, and everything exports to Excel or PDF whenever your bookkeeper or accountant asks for it.

Restaurants and retail on one platform

SeroPOS serves both sides of the counter. Restaurants get dine-in, take-away and delivery order modes, nested modifier groups, floor plans with live table status, kitchen order tickets and a kitchen display. Retailers get barcode scanning, variations such as size and colour, lot and expiry tracking, price groups, label printing and purchase orders. Each business switches on what it needs and leaves the rest out of the way of staff.

Because both live in one product, a café that sells retail coffee beans, or a grocery store with a hot-food counter, does not need two systems that never agree. Products, customers, loyalty points and reports stay in one place, and owners see the whole business on one screen instead of stitching together exports from different vendors at the end of every week.

  • Restaurants: cafés, quick service, full service, pizzerias, bakeries, bars and food trucks
  • Retail: grocery, convenience, pharmacy, gift shops, jewelry, kiosks and repair shops with job cards

Hardware without lock-in

SeroPOS runs on iOS, Android, Windows and macOS and is listed in four app stores. Pair it with ESC/POS receipt printers from Epson, Star and compatible brands over USB or the network, with auto-detect to make setup quicker. Kitchen printers, barcode scanners, label printers, cash drawers and kitchen displays are all supported, so you can often reuse equipment you already own instead of buying a new bundle.

For card-present payments, the recommended terminal is the Global Payments Verifone T650p, an Android device with a 5.5-inch touchscreen, a built-in printer and Wi-Fi, 4G and Bluetooth. Moneris and Gravity Payments are also supported for businesses with existing processor relationships. There is no proprietary hardware you are forced to lease, and no contract that ties your equipment to one software vendor.

From the till to the ledger

SeroPOS includes built-in double-entry accounting and syncs with QuickBooks Online and Xero on the Pro plan, which covers many smaller operations. When you want the counter and the books to be genuinely one system, SeroBooks is the next step. It grew out of SeroPOS for exactly that reason: so the till, the shelf and the ledger share the same data instead of being reconciled after the fact.

That means sales, tax collected and inventory movements reach the general ledger without anyone re-keying totals from a Z-report. Your accountant sees the same figures the cash drawer saw at close, cost of goods reflects what actually left the shelf, and month-end becomes a review of numbers that already agree rather than a hunt for missing entries.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the SeroPOS point of sale cost?

SeroPOS Standard is $29.99 a month or $299.99 a year. Pro is $49.99 a month or $499.99 a year and adds QuickBooks and Xero sync, advanced reporting, recipe management and priority support. Prices are in USD, and both plans start with a 14-day free trial that needs no credit card, with no contract and no onboarding fees.

What devices does SeroPOS run on?

SeroPOS runs on iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Windows PCs and Macs. It is listed on the Apple App Store, Google Play, Microsoft Store and Mac App Store. It works with ESC/POS receipt printers, kitchen printers, barcode scanners, label printers, cash drawers and kitchen displays, with no proprietary hardware required.

Can I use SeroPOS for both a restaurant and a retail shop?

Yes. SeroPOS covers restaurant workflows such as modifiers, floor plans, kitchen tickets and order modes, and retail workflows such as barcode scanning, variations, lot and expiry tracking and price groups. Businesses that do both, like a bakery selling packaged goods or a grocer with a deli counter, can run everything from one account and one set of reports.

Does SeroPOS work without internet?

SeroPOS has an offline mode so you can keep ringing sales when the connection drops. When the internet returns, the app catches up so your stock and reports reflect what was sold. Online-only features such as web orders, QR orders and accounting sync naturally wait until you are connected again.

Is there a contract or setup fee?

No. SeroPOS has no contracts and no onboarding fees. You download the app, sign up in-app and use the 14-day free trial without entering a credit card. If it suits your business, you choose Standard or Pro and pay monthly or yearly, and you can change plans as your needs grow.
