Receipts customers actually keep
Paper receipts get lost, fade in a wallet, and cost money in thermal rolls. Some customers would also rather not hand over an email address at the counter. SeroPOS can send a receipt by SMS through Twilio, so the customer has it on their phone for returns or expense claims, and you save on paper.
Email receipts and printed receipts remain available, and staff choose at checkout based on what the customer asks for. A phone number captured for a receipt can also be attached to a customer profile for loyalty points, if the customer agrees, which turns a one-off sale into a relationship you can recognise next visit.
Staying in touch with customers
SeroPOS includes customer profiles, customer groups, price groups, loyalty points and a CRM with leads, campaigns, follow-ups and call logs. Text messages are a natural fit for that work, whether you’re letting a customer know their repair job is ready or following up with a wholesale lead after a visit.
Keep campaigns respectful and permission-based. Canada’s anti-spam legislation and US texting rules require consent before you send marketing messages, so collect opt-in at the counter or online first, and make it easy to opt out. Messages people asked for get read; messages they didn’t ask for get your number blocked.

Briefings from Maya by SMS
Maya, the AI employee in SeroBooks, can send a morning briefing by email or SMS: yesterday’s sales, stock that needs attention, overdue invoices and anything else worth a look. She works from your own data using 31 tools, and answers follow-up questions in seconds when you open the app.
Maya drafts purchase orders, reorder points and promotions but never acts without approval. Every action is audited, there are value caps and rate limits, and there’s a kill switch. Customer data isn’t used to train AI models. An SMS briefing simply tells you what deserves your attention before the day gets busy.
WhatsApp, too
In many communities, WhatsApp is how customers prefer to hear from businesses, and some never check email at all. SeroPOS supports WhatsApp messaging, and SeroBooks supports sharing invoices over WhatsApp, so a customer can receive and open an invoice in the same app they use to talk with family and friends.
Between SMS, WhatsApp and email, you can reach customers on the channel they actually use, without exporting contact lists into another tool or copying invoice links by hand. The message goes from the system that holds the sale or invoice, so the details are always correct and nothing needs retyping.
Frequently asked questions
Can SeroPOS send receipts by text message?
Yes. SeroPOS can send receipts by SMS through Twilio, as well as by email or on paper. Staff choose at checkout based on what the customer prefers, and customers get a digital copy on their phone that’s easy to find later for returns, exchanges or expense claims.
What is Twilio?
Twilio is a widely used communications platform that delivers SMS messages for many software products. Sero uses it to send text receipts from SeroPOS and Maya’s morning briefings from SeroBooks. You don’t need to understand how it works to use these features; you simply choose SMS.
Can I send marketing texts to customers?
SeroPOS includes a CRM with customer groups, campaigns and follow-ups. Before sending promotional texts, get customer consent and offer an easy way to opt out. Canada’s anti-spam legislation and US texting rules both require permission for marketing messages, and customers respond better when they opted in.
What are Maya’s SMS briefings?
Maya, the AI employee in SeroBooks, can send a morning briefing by email or SMS with sales, stock and money highlights from your own data. She drafts actions such as purchase orders but never takes them without your approval, and every action is audited.
Can I share invoices on WhatsApp?
Yes. SeroBooks supports sharing invoices over WhatsApp, and SeroPOS supports WhatsApp messaging. That lets customers receive invoices and receipts in the app they already use every day, which can mean faster responses and faster payment, particularly with customers who rarely check email.
