Variants without the spreadsheet

A single dress might come in XS through XL and three colours, which is fifteen items to track. SeroPOS handles that as one product with variations, each carrying its own barcode, price and stock level. Your catalogue stays readable, and reports roll up to the style while still showing which size and colour combinations are selling.

New arrivals can be loaded in bulk with Excel import, and barcode labels can be printed for each variant. On the sale screen, drag-and-drop layouts and category colours let you put this season’s collection up front. When a style sells through in one size, low-stock alerts flag that exact variant rather than the whole product.

  • Variations for size, colour and other options
  • Barcode and stock count per variant
  • Barcode label printing
  • Excel import for new collections

Returns, exchanges and the fitting room

Clothing gets returned and exchanged more than most products. SeroPOS processes returns and refunds at the till and puts stock back into the correct variant, so a medium returned in blue shows as available again. Exchanges are just a return and a new sale on the same visit, with mixed tender for any difference.

Hold and resume orders work well while a customer is in the fitting room. Park the items they have chosen, serve the next person, then pick the sale back up when they are ready to pay. If they decide against an item, remove it from the held sale and nothing has left stock.

  • Returns put stock back into the right size and colour
  • Exchanges as a return plus a new sale
  • Hold and resume while customers try things on
  • Permissions on who can issue refunds

Selling online and in store

Most boutiques sell through a website and social channels as well as the shop. SeroPOS syncs two ways with Shopify, works with WooCommerce and includes its own online catalogue with cart and checkout. Stock is shared, so the last small in black doesn’t get sold twice. Product details and variants are maintained once rather than in two separate systems.

Web orders land in a queue on the POS for staff to pick and pack. If you have a second location or a pop-up, stock transfers move pieces between them with a record of what moved, and chain reporting shows sales across all locations. That makes it easier to send slow sizes to the store where they actually sell.

Looking after your regulars

Boutiques depend on customers who come back every season. SeroPOS keeps customer profiles with purchase history, so staff can see what someone bought last time and what size they wear. Loyalty points are earned and redeemed at the till, and customer groups let you give VIPs or stylists their own pricing.

The CRM tools handle leads, campaigns and follow-ups, which helps when you are inviting customers to a trunk show or new-arrivals evening. Receipts by email or SMS keep the store’s name in their inbox, and customer groups make it simple to invite only your VIPs or only the people who bought from a particular designer.

Buying, landed cost and the books

Fashion buying happens in advance, often from overseas suppliers with freight and duty on top. SeroBooks handles purchase orders, goods received and supplier bills, including foreign-currency bills, and adds freight and duty to stock with landed cost. The result is a cost per piece that reflects what you actually paid.

Sales from SeroPOS post into the same double-entry ledger, so gross margin by collection or category is a report rather than a guess. Sales tax is tracked for every Canadian province and US state. End-of-season markdowns are easier to plan when you know the real cost behind each piece. If you prefer QuickBooks Online or Xero, SeroPOS Pro syncs with both.

Frequently asked questions

Can SeroPOS handle sizes and colours for clothing?

Yes. SeroPOS supports variations, so one product can carry every size and colour combination. Each variant has its own barcode, price and stock count, and reports show both the style total and the breakdown by variant. That makes it easy to see which sizes to reorder.

Does SeroPOS sync with Shopify for a clothing store?

Yes. SeroPOS has two-way Shopify sync, so products and stock stay aligned between your website and the shop. It also works with WooCommerce and includes its own online catalogue with cart and checkout. Web orders arrive in a queue on the POS.

How are returns and exchanges handled?

Returns and refunds are processed at the till, and the item goes back into stock under the correct size and colour. An exchange is a return plus a new sale, with mixed tender for any difference in price. Permissions let you control which staff can issue refunds.

What does a boutique POS cost with SeroPOS?

SeroPOS Standard costs $29.99 a month and includes unlimited products, multiple users and loyalty. Pro is $49.99 a month and adds QuickBooks and Xero sync, advanced reporting and priority support. Both are in USD with a 14-day free trial and no contract.

Can I track the cost of imported clothing including freight and duty?

Yes, in SeroBooks. You can record purchase orders and foreign-currency supplier bills, then use landed cost to add freight, duty and brokerage to inventory. That gives you a true cost per piece, so gross margin reports reflect what each item actually cost to bring in.
