Why retailers connect Shopify to their POS

Running a Shopify store next to a physical shop usually means two product lists and two stock counts. When a customer buys the last unit at the counter, the website keeps selling it. Staff spend time correcting counts, customers get cancellation emails, and nobody fully trusts the inventory number in either system. The problem grows with every new product and every busy weekend.

The SeroPOS Shopify integration is two-way. Products, prices and stock levels stay aligned, and online orders arrive in SeroPOS alongside walk-in sales. The shop and the website work from the same numbers, so a sale in one place is reflected in the other. Your team manages one catalogue, and your reports show the whole business instead of two halves.

What syncs

The integration covers the data that causes trouble when it drifts: the catalogue, variations, prices and on-hand quantities, plus incoming orders. Receive a purchase order in SeroPOS and the new stock is reflected online. Sell in store and the online quantity drops. Change a price for a sale weekend and you change it once, not twice, in two different admin screens.

Inventory features in SeroPOS, including low-stock alerts, transfers between locations, lot and expiry tracking and Excel import and export, apply to products you sell on Shopify too. That means you manage stock in one place with one set of tools, and the reorder decisions you make account for online demand as well as what walks through the door.

Fulfilment and accounting

Orders that need shipping can go through ShipStation, which Sero also integrates with, so labels and tracking don’t require re-entering addresses. Pickup orders stay in the SeroPOS queue for the counter team, who can see what’s waiting and mark it collected. Either way, the order and its stock movement are recorded once, in SeroPOS, where the rest of your sales live.

On the accounting side, sales reach SeroBooks directly, or QuickBooks Online and Xero through the SeroPOS Pro sync. Online and in-store revenue land in the same ledger, coded and taxed correctly for Canada or the US. That makes it far easier to see whether the website is actually profitable once shipping, payment fees and returns are counted.

Getting connected

Connect your Shopify store from SeroPOS, choose which side holds the master catalogue for the first sync, and match existing products by SKU or barcode. Clean up duplicates before you connect, because the sync will faithfully copy whatever it finds. After the first pass, changes flow both ways without anyone needing to export or upload spreadsheets.

SeroPOS runs on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and Mac. The 14-day free trial needs no credit card, which gives you time to test the sync on a few products before connecting the full catalogue. Standard costs $29.99/mo and Pro $49.99/mo, with no contracts or onboarding fees, and our team can help with mapping if your catalogue is large.

Frequently asked questions

Does SeroPOS integrate with Shopify?

Yes. SeroPOS has a two-way Shopify integration. Products, variations, prices and stock levels stay aligned between your store counter and your Shopify site, and online orders show up in the SeroPOS order queue next to in-store sales. You manage one catalogue instead of two, and reporting covers both channels together.

Will Shopify and my store share one inventory count?

Yes. Both channels draw from the same stock in SeroPOS. When you sell an item at the counter, the online quantity updates, and when an online order comes in, in-store stock goes down. That helps prevent selling items you no longer have and cuts down on cancellation emails to online customers.

Do I need Shopify POS if I use SeroPOS?

No. SeroPOS is the in-store point of sale and Shopify remains your online store. Many retailers use SeroPOS at the counter for its inventory, purchasing, multi-location and accounting features, and keep Shopify for the website. In-store card payments run through Global Payments, Moneris or Gravity Payments.

How do Shopify sales reach my accounting?

Sales flow from SeroPOS into SeroBooks directly, or into QuickBooks Online or Xero through the sync included in SeroPOS Pro. Online and in-store revenue end up in the same ledger with sales tax recorded separately as a liability, so your returns and your P&L both reflect the whole business.

Can I ship Shopify orders with ShipStation?

Yes. Sero also integrates with ShipStation, so orders that need shipping can be sent there for labels and tracking without retyping customer details. Pickup orders stay in the SeroPOS queue for your counter team. Inventory stays in SeroPOS either way, so ShipStation doesn’t become a second stock system.
