The room, on one screen

Table service starts with knowing where everyone is. SeroPOS floor plans are drag-and-drop, so you can draw the patio, the bar rail and the private room as they really are. Live table status shows which tables are open, which have orders in progress and which are waiting on a bill, so the host can seat without walking the floor.

Servers open a table, add each guest’s order and hold it while courses are fired. Any terminal can resume the order, which matters when a server hands off a section at shift change, a bartender adds a round for table twelve, or a manager needs to add a comp before the bill goes down.

Coursing, modifiers and the kitchen

Nested modifier groups capture temperatures, sides, sauces and allergy substitutions as structured choices, with upcharges where they apply. Those lines print on kitchen order tickets or show on a kitchen display exactly as entered, which keeps the conversation between server and chef short and reduces the dishes that come back to the pass.

Service products and combos handle prix fixe menus, corkage fees and set menus for private events without workarounds or open-priced items. Per-category colours and custom button layouts help servers find the wine list, the features board or the dessert menu quickly, so the table is not waiting while someone scrolls through the screen.

The end of the meal: bills, tips and payment

Splitting a cheque for a table of eight should not take ten minutes. SeroPOS splits evenly, by percentage, by item or by a custom amount, and each part can be paid with mixed tender. Tips are captured at payment, and receipts can go by email or SMS for the guest who wants a copy for an expense report.

Card-present payments run through Global Payments, Moneris or Gravity Payments. The recommended Verifone T650p from Global Payments has its own printer and Wi-Fi, 4G and Bluetooth, so you can take payment at the table instead of carrying cards to the bar, and guests keep their card in sight the whole time.

Reservations and the phone

In a sit-down restaurant the phone rings all evening with questions about hours, the menu, parking and tables for Saturday. SeroBot, the AI phone assistant in SeroPOS, answers using your live menu and hours and can take reservations, which frees the host to look after the guests standing in front of them.

The CRM keeps customer profiles with history, so a regular’s favourite table or a large party’s preferences are on record for next time. Customer groups and loyalty points reward repeat guests without a separate program, and email and SMS tools give you a way to reach them when you launch a new menu.

Wine, food cost, staff and the books

Recipe management on SeroPOS Pro costs dishes at the ingredient level, and inventory tracks bottles, kegs and produce with low-stock alerts and purchase orders. Stock adjustments record breakage, spoilage and staff meals so variance reports mean something when you sit down with the chef to review the menu and decide which dishes earn their place.

SeroPOS tracks attendance and shifts. For Canadian restaurants, SeroPayroll pays servers, cooks and dishwashers with CPP, EI, vacation pay, stat holidays and overtime calculated by province. Sales post to SeroPOS’s built-in double-entry accounting and sync to QuickBooks Online, Xero or SeroBooks, so your accountant works from the same numbers you do.

Frequently asked questions

Does SeroPOS have table management?

Yes. SeroPOS includes drag-and-drop floor plans with live table status, so you can lay out your dining room, patio and bar and see which tables are open, seated or waiting on a bill. Orders can be held and resumed from any terminal across courses and server handoffs.

Can SeroPOS split a bill by item?

Yes. Bills can be split evenly, by percentage, by item or by a custom amount. Each portion can be paid with a different tender, such as cash on one part and a card on another, and tips are captured at payment. Receipts can be printed or sent by email or SMS.

Can SeroBot take restaurant reservations?

Yes. SeroBot is the AI phone assistant in SeroPOS. It answers calls using your live menu and business hours and can take reservations. That means fewer missed calls during service and fewer interruptions for the host or a server who would otherwise step away to answer.

Can I take card payments at the table?

Yes, with a portable terminal. SeroPOS recommends the Global Payments Verifone T650p, an Android terminal with a 5.5 inch touchscreen, built-in printer and Wi-Fi, 4G and Bluetooth, so it travels to the table. Moneris and Gravity Payments are also supported for card-present payments in SeroPOS.

How much is SeroPOS for a sit-down restaurant?

SeroPOS Standard is $29.99 USD a month and Pro is $49.99 USD a month. Most full service restaurants choose Pro for recipe management, advanced reporting and QuickBooks or Xero sync. Both include a 14-day free trial with no credit card, no contract and no onboarding fees.
