Bring your Moneris relationship with you

Moneris is one of the largest payment processors in Canada, and many merchants have years of history with it, from deposit schedules to the support line they know. Changing POS software shouldn’t force a processor change too. SeroPOS supports Moneris for card-present payments, and SeroBooks supports Moneris terminals on the accounting side.

That means you can move to SeroPOS for its inventory, restaurant tools, multi-location reporting and accounting, while keeping the merchant account and deposit schedule you already understand. One big change at a time is easier on staff, and you can always revisit processing later once the new system is settled.

Reconciliation that holds up

Card payments taken through Moneris are recorded in SeroPOS as a distinct tender. Shift reports and Z-reports show card totals next to cash and other tenders, so the night’s deposits can be checked against the register before anyone goes home. When a deposit is short, you know which day and which shift to look at.

From there, sales flow into SeroBooks, or QuickBooks Online and Xero on SeroPOS Pro. Processing fees can be recorded on their own line instead of being netted out of revenue, so the P&L shows real sales and real card costs. That makes it much easier to judge whether your current rates are competitive.

Using Moneris in SeroBooks

Wholesale counters, trades and professional services often run sales directly in SeroBooks rather than a point of sale. SeroBooks supports Moneris card terminals for counter sales and card payments, so a customer can pay an invoice at the counter and the payment is applied to that invoice immediately, with no later matching.

Customer statements, A/R ageing and bank reconciliation all see the same payment, which cuts down on month-end chasing and the occasional embarrassing reminder sent to a customer who already paid. Your team works from one record of who owes what, whether the customer paid by card, cheque or bank transfer.

Should you switch processors?

You don’t have to. If your Moneris rates and service work for you, stay with them. If you’re not sure whether you’re paying too much, send us a recent statement and we’ll show what Global Payments, our recommended partner with the Verifone T650p terminal, would cost. We offer to beat your current rate.

Either way, SeroPOS isn’t tied to proprietary register hardware. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and Mac with standard ESC/POS printers, scanners and cash drawers. The 14-day free trial needs no credit card, so you can set up your menu or catalogue before deciding anything about payments, and keep Moneris throughout.

Frequently asked questions

Does SeroPOS work with Moneris?

Yes. SeroPOS supports Moneris for card-present payments. You can keep your existing Moneris merchant account and use it with SeroPOS, with card payments recorded by tender and shown on shift and Z-reports. Sales then flow into SeroBooks, QuickBooks Online or Xero for accounting.

Does SeroBooks support Moneris terminals?

Yes. SeroBooks supports Moneris and Global Payments card terminals for counter sales and card payments. Payments are applied to invoices as they’re taken and appear in A/R and bank reconciliation, which suits wholesale counters, trades and service businesses that bill from SeroBooks.

Do I have to switch from Moneris to use Sero?

No. Moneris is supported, so you can keep your processor and your current deposit schedule. Global Payments is our recommended partner and we offer to beat your current rate if you send us a statement, but switching processors is entirely your choice and can wait.

Is my customers’ card data stored by Sero?

No. Card data stays inside the certified payment terminal. Sero records the payment amount, tender and status for reporting and accounting, but not the card number. That keeps sensitive card data out of your POS and accounting systems, which is simpler and safer for you.

Which hardware can I use alongside Moneris?

SeroPOS runs on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and Mac, with ESC/POS receipt printers from Epson, Star and compatibles, kitchen printers, barcode scanners, label printers and cash drawers. There’s no proprietary register hardware to buy, so existing equipment can often be reused.
